Supervision & Delegation of Duties
Physical therapy may direct/supervise no more than 4 Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) (Alabama Board of Physical Therapy Administrative Code – Roles and Responsibilities of Licensees, 700-X-3-.03)

- Frequent regularly scheduled oversight by supervising physical therapist (PT)

- Direct onsite supervision by a PT or a PTA, if directed by supervising PT

Evaluation/Reevaluation
- Approved Referral Sources (Alabama Physical Therapy Practice Act – Section 34-24-210.1 Evaluation & Treatment by Physical Therapist)
- Professional licensed to practice medicine, surgery, dentistry, or chiropractic
- Licensed assistant of a physician with a valid supervision agreement
- Licensed certified registered nurse practitioner who has a valid agreement with a licensed physician
Specialized Treatment
Dry Needling – Information in American Physical Therapy Association (APTA): State Laws and Regulations Governing Dry Needling Performed by PTs and check with the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy for information.
Telehealth – Not addressed in Alabama Practice Act.

- Display appropriate credentials, such as PT or PTA, on person when providing physical therapy services
